Euro Cylinder Measurement Guide
When ordering a Euro Cylinder, it’s important to select the correct length. To do so, measure the thickness of the door and add the depth of the handle faceplates or escutcheons that will be fitted. This will give you the overall length.
Cylinder lengths are manufactured in multiples of 5mm. If the measurement required is not a multiple of 5 (eg. 78mm), round it up to the next 5mm increment so it protrudes slightly.
NOTE: It is important that cylinders do not protrude by more than a couple of mm as it can make the lock more vulnerable to attack and also results in a less pleasing look.
Cylinders can be supplied with an offset centre (when the multipoint lock faceplate isn’t central in the door). In this instance, the order of measurement to the centre is external, then internal. Eg. External 40mm and internal 30mm = 40/30
NOTE: When using a thumb turn, only measure the length of the barrel.
