Care and Maintenance

By following a few simple steps, you can ensure that your Hardwick Heritage hardware will last a lifetime.

The Hardwick Heritage Range of door and window furniture has been crafted from solid brass, which is chosen for both its strength and anti-corrosive properties (Brass is a zinc and copper alloy, neither of which can rust).

Once each item is manufactured, it is expertly finished in our Forged Black finish by undergoing a powder-coating process.

This gives the final product a durable, corrosion-resistant finish, that is resistant to UV light fading and has a natural sheen.

By following a few simple steps, you can ensure that your Hardwick Heritage hardware will last a lifetime.

Where it's Used

The Hardwick Heritage Range is perfect for both internal and external use. However, natural oxidisation will accelerate when Hardwick Heritage products are used externally in coastal areas due to high levels of salt in the air.

For ultimate corrosion resistance, we recommend the Hardwick Signature Range which is made from 316 marine grade stainless steel.

Cleaning

Regular cleaning with warm, soapy water and a soft cloth will help remove any harmful deposits.

Maintaining

Periodically oiling all moving parts using a 3-in-1 or maintenance oil will aid the longevity of the product. High traffic areas will require more frequent maintenance and application during installation is highly recommended.

Other

We recommend removing any ironmongery when decorating to avoid the risk of any chemicals, stains, paints etc affecting the finish (it is also a good opportunity to undertake maintenance at this point).

Also try to keep contact with metallic surfaces such as rings, bunches of keys etc to a minimum as repeated contact can scratch/damage the finish over time.
